Sky Sports pundit Danny Higginbotham has been waxing lyrical about Hull City ace Jarrod Bowen but believes it would be too soon for him to join Tottenham, who are linked with signing the winger.

According to Sky Sports, Spurs have been keeping close tabs on Bowen this season, but the Premier League club might have to stump up £20million if they wanted to lure him away from Humberside.

Higginbotham has suggested that the 22-year-old has a tough decision on whether he wants to stay at Hull or join the top-four Premier League club.

However the ex-Stoke player believes that the in-form attacker is better off staying put in the Championship for now.

“There’s no doubting that he is an exceptional talent and he’s been the main reason why Hull have started to climb out of the situation they were in, earlier on in the season,” Higginbotham told Football League World.

“I think it would be too early for him to move, especially to a club like Spurs, as when a player is doing really well like Bowen is, you have to have that full season of playing as much as you can, and as well as you can.”

He added: “It’s a difficult one, when you’re playing for a club in the Championship, and thinking about moving to the Premier League to a team that are challenging for the top four, it’s going to be very difficult for you to be breaking into that team straight away.”

“I think Bowen would be under no illusions that if he was to go to a club like Tottenham then he’s not going to be starting week in, week out, there’s no doubt about that.”

OPINION

Bowen has been in sensational form for Hull this season, scoring 14 goals in 28 league appearances for the Yorkshire club. The Tigers are unbeaten in their last 10 Championship games and find themselves eighth in the league standings, even though they looked as though they would be in a relegation dogfight at the start of the campaign. Bowen’s form is a major reason as to why they have flown up the table, and Spurs have every right to be interested in the young English attacker. It would be a good time for Bowen to join the London club if they did want to sign him this month. Heung-min Son is on international duty at the Asian Cup, Lucas Moura is injured and Erik Lamela had a stinker in the 2-1 win against Fulham on Saturday. If he was a Spurs player right now, he would more than likely get into their starting line-up next weekend. However Higginbotham is right to say that he should see the season out at Hull first.
