Leeds are desperate to bring in Swansea winger Daniel James, who played and scored for their Championship rivals tonight, and there’s still a lot of optimism that a deal will get done.

Not least from a source who is close to James. Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay said that he spoke to this source yesterday who said the deal will “100% get done”.

Hay did finish off by saying, “Question now is whether it’ll actually go through.”

OPINION

This is a clear indication that James thinks he is moving to Leeds this week. Phil hay is an ultra-reliable source of Leeds information and he doesn’t put things out unless they’re 100% accurate. If he says the source is close to James, then you can trust what he’s saying, and the verdict is unequivocal: the deal will “100% get done”. By way of caution, we would say that talks are obviously ongoing and the deal won’t be done until it’s done. It does seem more and more likely that this is just a big game of brinksmanship, with Swansea holding on for as much money as they can get for a player they really don’t want to sell. He might have put an extra few hundred thousand on his price today, after scoring the opening goal for his side against Birmingham tonight. It wasn’t enough to win the three points though and Swansea had to rely on a 94th minute equaliser to grab a share of the spoils in a very entertaining 3-3 draw.
