Wolves have completed the signing of midfielder Michael Agboola from Dagenham & Redbridge.

The National League club confirmed via their official Twitter account and official website on Friday that the 17-year-old has agreed terms with Wolves after a successful trial with the West Midlands side.

The Daggers have announced that they have been paid a training compensation fee by the Premier League club, who have now taken on Agboola’s scholarship contract.

OPINION

Wolves may have ploughed a lot of money into strengthening their first team in the last couple of years, but they are also making sure that their academy is fully stocked with promising young players from across England, who may one day make it into their senior side. Morgan Gibbs-White’s emergence has proved that Nuno Espirito Santo will give young players a chance to shine if they are good enough and Agboola will surely be hoping to follow in his footsteps in the future. It was always going to be a move that the teenager was going to find hard to turn down. He made one Under-18 Premier League appearance for Wolves in November when he played in a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United, and after featuring in that game, he was always going to want the move. Dagenham & Redbridge will surely be gutted to lose one of their top prospects, but they have been reimbursed and it’s always good for a non-league club to pick up a bit of cash when they can.
