OPINION
Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan certainly didn’t have his best day at the office in his team’s 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town on Sunday. The German international seemed to struggle in something of a free role in the City midfield. With David Silva and Bernardo Silva not in the starting line up the burden was on the former Borussia Dortmund man to provide the creativity from deep. In that he largely failed. Gundogan is a strange player. He produces moments of real quality, but also looks anonymous at times. He has immense talent, that remains indisputable, but he can be too passive at times. His form is too inconsistent for him to be considered anything other than a squad player for City, and that was shown to be the case on Sunday. He just didn’t seem to have the guile to make a real impact against the Terriers, and the City fans were clearly disappointed with his efforts.

I’m offering a reason as to why he isn’t. No one has the same link up with Sane as him.
And I have no idea where Gundogan is playing. Pretty poor performance all round.— Daniel (@danielcity22) January 20, 2019
