BBC journalist Simon Stone claimed that West Bromwich Albion were likely to sign further players before the January transfer window shuts even if Jacob Murphy joins on loan from Newcastle United.

The trusted BBC Sports reporter reported via his personal Twitter account that West Brom looked likely to sign their priority target, Murphy, but that he most definitely won’t be the only player to arrive before the deadline.

“Jacob Murphy on loan from @NUFC looks like it will be priority target achieved but almost certainly won’t be @WBA only new arrival before tomorrow night,” tweeted Stone.

Stone also shared via his article on BBC Sport that Baggies manager Darren Moore was keen to strengthen all areas of his team in order for his side to have the best chance of reaching the Premier League.

OPINION

It seems West Brom fans should be bracing themselves for a busy transfer window, but there’s no guarantee they will be left happy. With time working against them, the Baggies seem to have left it late to get a lot of business done. Moore wants all areas of his team strengthened and that suggests he wants several new faces to arrive in order to have a team that he believes is capable of winning promotion. It seems odd that with the WBA manager wanting every area improved, that the club haven’t acted faster. The Baggies have a terrible track record of making life hard for themselves by leaving it late in the transfer window to act, just look at how well Victor Anichebe fared after arriving on deadline day from Everton in 2013. While Stone’s update is exciting as new faces are always welcome, you can’t help but feel disappointment may loom.
