Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted that Aston Villa will snap their five-game winless streak against Ipswich Town on Saturday.

The Villans welcome the Tractor Boys to Birmingham in a 3pm kick-off in the Championship, with Dean Smith’s side having not won a game since the turn of the year.

Prutton has predicted that ‘alarming’ run will finally come to an end on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over struggling Ipswich, who sit rock bottom of the Championship.

In his predictions for Sky Sports, he said: “We’re seeing an alarming run of form for Aston Villa, who haven’t won a game now in any competition since beating Swansea on Boxing Day.

“It is starting to look like a hopeless situation for Ipswich, though, so this should be a relatively straightforward home win.”

OPINION

Prutton’s prediction of a win for Villa is not really to do with their quality but Ipswich lack of it, with the Tractor Boys enduring a really poor season so far in the second-tier. Villa have been extremely disappointing since the turn of the year, but the firepower they have up front, including the division’s top scorer in Tammy Abraham, should see them easily overcome Ipswich at home on Saturday. Should they not do so, then serious questions will begin to be asked about manager Smith and his impact. Those doubt have already begun to creep in for many supporters amid a really poor run since his appointment, but they would be cemented in many minds if they do not beat Ipswich this weekend. Smith is a talented coach, there is no doubt about that, and he will likely be given time to rectify things, but football is a results business, and he is simply not getting any results at the moment.
