Leeds director of football Victor Orta has been active in the transfer market for the “last few days” according to the Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon.

With the January window open and teams already strengthening, Leeds have been very quiet so far.

However, that could be set to change. Nixon was responding to a fan who asked whether the Leeds board were looking to add players.

Nixon said that Victor Orta is the man who signs the players at Elland Road and followed this up by saying that Orta had been active “for the last few days”.

Nixon didn’t give any specifics about targets, but it is thought that Leeds are looking for a goalkeeper, a winger and a number 10.

Nixon made the claim on his personal Twitter page on Wednesday afternoon.

OPINION

Leeds fans are getting impatient but they might have something to cheer soon. Nixon’s information is normally rock solid and he’s just starting talking about Leeds. A couple of days ago he said that he would start sniffing around to see if he could dig up any details. Now it transpires that Orta is finally active in the transfer market. This comes after it was confirmed that Leeds would be losing Lewis Baker, with Chelsea recalling him because of lack of game-time. Manager Marcelo Bielsa said that it wasn’t his choice that Baker was leaving and that he had a plan for the rest of this season and for next year for the midfielder. Leeds also lost Jamal Blackman to injury and Samu Saiz who returned to Spain. With a squad that wasn’t big anyway, they desperately need to get bodies over the line. And, if Leeds fans were getting frustrated at the lack of action, at least they can relax a bit now, knowing that Orta is on the case. They’ll be hoping he comes up with a few gems in a hurry.
