Leeds fans have been given hope in their club’s pursuit of Swansea winger Daniel James by the Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon.

He responded to a Leeds fan on his personal Twitter account who asked if Leeds had ended their pursuit of the 21-year-old Welsh international winger.

Nixon replied with a simple “No”.

This comes after the Mirror’s David Anderson had said he had heard that Leeds’ interest in Bristol City’s Callum O’Dowda was growing as they couldn’t agree a deal with Swansea.

He said that Leeds were “prepared to walk away from James talks”.

OPINION

The more we see of James the more we’re convinced that he is the player that Leeds need this season and in the Premier League. He’s young, talented and definitely a player who’s got big things in front of him. Swansea know this though and they’re not going to sell him below what they consider his value is. That’s said to be between £3million and £5million, and we doubt Leeds can go to the upper figure. However, it sounds like this could be the only outfield signing of the January window and Andrea Radrizzani should be persuaded to go the extra mile. Leeds need a player like James this season, but they also need signings like this for the Premier League. Signing Kiko Casilla was a great start. James would be the icing on top. Margins could be fine at the top of the Championship come the summer and James could make a difference.
