COMMENTARY
Many Aston Villa supporters were questioning whether Dean Smith was the right manager and questioning his futureĀ after witnessing their side lose 3-0 to Wigan on Saturday. Several opted directly just to call for his their Villans boss’ head while some were less direct and just slated his performance. Given that Smith hasn’t been at Villa that long after succeeding Steve Bruce as manager, it seems these fans below are little harsh to say the least. While Aston Villa did struggle to deliver the goods against Wigan, all the blame can’t be put on the manager. Smith may have got his line-up wrong but he is still working with players that need upgrading and clearly aren’t cutting the mustard currently. It’s way too soon to be chopping and changing manager once again, as a club that axes managers quickly are generally not the ones that do well to say the least. Hopefully Smith is able to win back the section of fanbase that appears to have turned against him as he needs everyone surrounding the club on the same page.

Absolutely shocking today completely lost control of the midfield and our tempo from a few weeks ago was nowhere. Only question I would have on Smith is has he got the fear factor with the players because that was unacceptable #AVFC #UTV #Villa

My concern is our main issue , conceding goal was also a problem for Smith at Brentford so there is little to suggest he can rectify it #avfc

Smith under pressure, and he should be. Performances steadily declined and now two 'bad days at the office' in a row. If FFP is biting, we need a tactically astute coaching staff who can make silk purses. As it is, we're pig sick. #avfc
