Leeds must sign Mutch

There might not be a lot of money at Elland Road this January but that shouldn’t stop them from strengthening their squad.

There are plenty of players available in loan deals and there are others who would make excellent free agent signings.

One is Crystal Palace’s Jordon Mutch, who has just left the club by mutual consent.

The 27-year-old is a versatile player who can play in central midfield or in a more attacking position.

The player, reportedly on £28k-a-year at Palace, would come with vast experience from the Premier League and the Championship.

And he would surely relish the chance to help get Leeds back up into the Premier League.

Squad depth is going to be absolutely key in the second-half of the season. Marcelo Bielsa hasn’t experienced the full sapping nature of the Championship and he’s going to need bodies.

The Under-23s are a hugely talented bunch of players but they’re not going to have the experience and smarts to get Leeds over the line.

A player like Mutch could be excellent cover for Bielsa and if Leeds act now they could get him for free and on reduced wages.

We think it makes a lot of sense.
