Leeds United goalkeeper Will Huffer has sealed a loan move to London club Brentford on a short term deal.

The Whites confirmed the 20-year-old’s departure via both their official Twitter account and website, having made his debut for the club this season and becoming a regular among the first team squad after Jamal Blackman’s season-ending injury.

He joins Barnet on a month-long loan move with one first team appearance under his belt, appearing as an unused substitute in the next nine games before Kiko Casilla’s arrival at Elland Road.

Opinion

Huffer was unlikely to find any game time between now and the end of the season and so sending him out to get some action at a decent level makes perfect sense for the young talent. It is a little weird he is being sent out for just a month – it is much like what happened to Bailey Peacock-Farrell last season with his short stint at York City – but perhaps Marcelo Bielsa is worried about another injury crisis hitting at Elland Road. Having kept a clean sheet on his debut against Bristol City he will be desperate to get another taste of senior action and this loan spell away at Barnet should satiate his hunger to play. With Casilla and Peacock-Farrell ahead of him in the pecking order he will likely be looking to leave for a little longer come the summer, maybe for a half season loan. If he impresses at Barnet, there could well be a queue of suitors lining up for his capture.
