Aston Villa must rev up their reported pursuit of Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings as soon as possible as now Leeds United have joined the race for him.

The Daily Mail previously reported that the Villans and West Bromwich Albion were in pursuit of the 25-year-old enforcer as they were keen to borrow his services to improve their defence.

Given that Dean Smith’s current defence is desperately in need of new faces as it has bordered on being a shambles in recent weeks, Mings if he is set to go out on loan is a fantastic signing for them to make.

The centre-back has featured fives time in the Premier League this season, which shows his quality, and he is a tough-tackling defender with an impressive physical presence.

It’s therefore easy to imagine how Mings could significantly help the Villans in the second half of the season, however given that the 25-year-old keeps gaining suitors they need to act as soon as possible and not mess about.

Sun journalist Alan Nixon reported on Sunday via his personal Twitter account  that Leeds and Derby were now teams in the race for Mings and given his skill-set, the race for him will only get busier until his future is sorted.

With Leeds being in the hunt for the defender, the Villans can’t wait around as the defender would likely be more tempted to play for the side sitting atop of the Championship if they do indeed go in for them.

While the Whites may not be able to guarantee him as many minutes as Villa likely would if recruited, they’ll still be able to offer him enough to tempt him to Elland Road.

Therefore the Villans must act as soon as possible in their pursuit of Mings as he could make a real difference at Villa Park and acting the quickest will help see off tough competition for him.
