Celtic must make a swoop to sign Watford right-back Marc Navarro before the transfer window slams shut later this month.

Brendan Rodgers must see that he needs to upgrade his options at right-back with Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa out of contract in the summer, and Watford’s Navarro will surely be a solid signing.

The 23-year-old joined the Premier League club from Espanyol in the summer but has so far struggled to make an impact by only appearing in four matches across all competitions.

Navarro’s lack of game-time is surely concerning for him, and it appears as though the problem may not get better any time soon with Darryl Janmaat recently returning from injury to force him even further down the pecking order.

Luckily, Celtic should be able to offer the Spanish full-back an escape route.

According to Football.London, Navarro could be available for just £4million, even though he only joined the Hornets in the summer transfer window.

It is understood that he is tipped for a bright future by those at Vicarage Road, but the player must realise that he is never going to reach his potential when he is struggling to even make the bench, let alone the first-team squad.

Celtic need to improve their defence this month otherwise they could let slip of winning a third domestic treble in a row.

Lustig is getting on a bit and has made way too many mistakes for an experienced player this season.

Gamboa is a one-trick pony who just has pace to burn and not a lot else.

Anthony Ralston is someone who does have a future at right-back, but he could be the only one left at Celtic Park after the summer with Lustig and Gamboa’s deals running out.

It is imperative that Rodgers signed Navarro this month.

Paradise will erupt if the Hoops boss is able to secure the signing of a young, highly-rated right-back on a permanent deal for a fee that is bound to rise in the future should he ever attract attention from down south again.

Go on Celtic, you know it makes sense.
