Celtic must make an audacious attempt to right Derby County right-back Jayden Bogle this month after it was reported that he could be available for the right price.

Sky Sports reported via their live transfer blog on Tuesday [10:31am] that Burnley are interested in signing the exciting 18-year-old and Frank Lampard could be willing to let him leave if the Rams are offered a tempting deal.

Bogle has been a key player for Derby this season, appearing 26 times across all competitions for the Championship promotion hopefuls.

He has done extremely well to break into Lampard’s starting line-up at such a tender age, especially as he had never earned a senior appearance before August.

It is pretty clear that the English right-back is something special, so it is no surprise that he is already attracting attention from the Premier League.

However before his stock gets too high, Celtic need to make their move with Brendan Rodgers in desperate need of a new right-back.

Neither Mikael Lustig and Christian Gamboa have played particularly well for the Hoops in the last year or so, and both of their contracts expire at the end of the season, meaning that there is going to be a gaping hole at right-back.

Bogle would really benefit from being signed now to play an understudy to Lustig until the summer, before being made the number one pick in that role for next season.

Celtic’s overall play will improve massively by signing the highly-rated teenager, and there is a good chance that his transfer value will rocket in the Scottish Premiership if he is playing regularly, featuring in Europe and winning silverware.

The Parkhead faithful have been urging Rodgers to sign a new right-back for quite sometime now and they are bound to erupt if the Bhoys boss seals a deal as exciting as this.
