Brendan Rodgers must name Odsonne Edouard in his starting line-up against St Mirren on Wednesday night if he wants to field his best possible starting side for the Parkhead showdown.

As quoted by Belfast Live, Rodgers has confirmed that Edouard is back in training and there is a chance that he could be contention to play in the mid-week Scottish Premiership fixture.

Oliver Burke should be axed so that Edouard can play with the 6ft 2 (transfermarkt) player proving in the 3-0 win against Airdrie on Saturday that he is not adept at playing as a centre-forward.

There was also an injury doubt about Anthony Ralston after the rarely-seen right-back picked up an ankle injury at the weekend.

However Rodgers suggests that there is a chance that Ralston could play, and if he is available, he must start ahead of Mikael Lustig at right-back to earn just his fifth appearance of the season in all competitions.

Scott Bain should stay in goals after an impressive display against Airdrie.

Ralston, Filip Benkovic, Dedryck Boyata and Emilio Izaguirre must be named to start as the back-four with Kieran Tierney still unavailable due to injury.

It is a no-brainer for Rodgers to name Scott Brown and Callum McGregor as his central midfield pairing while in the attacking roles, James Forest and Scott Sinclair should start on the wings with Ryan Christie in the No 10 slot.

If Edouard is fit then he has to start.

Timothy Weah scored on his Hoops debut on Saturday but Edouard is contracted to the club and he should always have priority of place in the starting line-up if he is fit and available.
