OPINION
Many Aston Villa fans may want Neal Maupay, but the chances of luring the striker away from Brentford are extremely low. The Sun has reported that Villa are lining up a swoop to sign the £6million-rated Frenchman, who has been in terrific form at Griffin Park this season. Maupay has scored 15 goals in the Championship this season and Villa could be losing Tammy Abraham if Chelsea recall him this month and let him join Wolves. Brentford will know that Villa will be desperate for a striker and they are bound to bump up their asking price once Abraham’s future is resolved. It is fine for Villa fans to be excited about Maupay. He has been in good form this season and it is fair to assume that he could continue that form in the West Midlands with a better midfield behind him and with his old manager Dean Smith. But there’s just something about this that suggests it won’t happen.

If Abraham goes, Maupay has to be the immediate replacement. Worked with DS already and is on par with goals. Bagged two at VP earlier in the season. Get him signed on a perm no loans. Rotate with Kodj/Davis/Hogan and we should be okay. #AVFC #UTV pic.twitter.com/wd2AQohAZX

would gladly let Tammy go, if Maupay was brought in. 6 million is a snip and he would be our player. #avfc

Maupay has been involved in 21 goals in 24 games (15 goals 6 assists) if we can get him for around 10 million I would sign him #avfc
