Wolves’ hopes of signing Tammy Abraham on loan from Chelsea are still alive, according to the Express & Star.

BBC Sport reported earlier on Tuesday that the 21-year-old forward has rejected a temporary switch to Molineux in order to see out his season-long loan at Aston Villa.

However in a new twist, it is reported that Wolves are still waiting on FIFA to give them the green light to sign Abraham, and the England international is yet to agree a move to the Premier League side amid concerns about being left in limbo should his Villa deal be terminated by Chelsea.

Good move for Wolves?

What a saga this is developing into.

Abraham might not get straight into Nuno Espirito Santo’s starting line-up but he would be a quality back-up option for Raul Jimenez, because Wolves would be in deep trouble if the Mexico international was to pick up an injury or suspension.

The Aston Villa loanee, who has scored 16 goals in 20 Championship appearances this term, may have struggled at Swansea last term but he has improved since then and he could thrive when he is not the main goal-getter in a top-flight side.

He does earn £50,000-a-week (Spotrac) on his deal at Stamford Bridge, so it would be a pricey loan signing for Wolves.

However the young striker is definitely worth it.

Likely to happen?

There seems to be a new twist to this transfer saga everyday.

It is understandable that Abraham is yet to accept a loan move to Wolves because FIFA are yet to give Wolves the go-ahead to sign him.

The FA and the Premier League have ratified the move, so surely FIFA will have no issues with it.

Once they make their decision, Abraham’s future will be more clear, but for now, who knows where he might end up.
