Newcastle United have been handed a welcome boost ahead of taking on Huddersfield Town on Saturday as their opponents have confirmed that midfielder Aaron Mooy will be unavailable for the match.

The Terriers confirmed via their official website on Wednesday that the 28-year-old will be stuck on the sidelines until February due to suffering a knee injury in the recent 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.

This news is a painful blow for Huddersfield to take, especially ahead of facing Rafa Benitez’s side, as you feel that the 28-year-old would be a huge miss for them especially with them scrapping for their Premier League survival.

While it’s never nice to see a talented player ruled out, the update is a welcomed boost for the Magpies as Mooy would have proven to be a handful for them on Saturday.

The midfielder is one of the Terriers best players and has generally impressed in the 16 appearances he has made this season as he even managed to score two goals despite his side’s struggles.

In fact Mooy is the club’s joint top-goalscorer for the season alongside Mathias Jorgensen, which shows how much of a loss he is to the Terriers especially when it comes to their attacking threat.

Aside from being able to score goals, Mooy’s crossing ability would have also caused the Magpies’ problems as well as his knack for being a danger from set-pieces.

Without having to deal with Mooy, the Magpies should have an easier task of overcoming the Terriers though they will have to be aware of players attempting to step up in his absence.
