West Brom winger Oliver Burke is being lined up for a loan move by Championship rivals Millwall in the January transfer window, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The reporter, who is a frequent writer for the Sun, claims on his personal Twitter account that the London outfit , who currently sit 20th in England’s second tier, are keen on snapping up the 21-year-old on a temporary deal after finding himself out of favour at the Hawthorns.

The right winger has featured just three times in the league for Darren Moore’s men this season, with his only starts coming in two League Cup outings.

Opinion

It is quite clear from the lack of game time coming Burke’s way that he has plenty to do to force his way back into Moore’s first team plans and so playing regular Championship football out on loan could be the making of the 21-year-old. Highly rated on his arrival to the Hawthorns he has not lived up to expectation yet and with the Baggies seeking a promotion spot this season they cannot afford to be taking risks on out-of-form players like Burke. A move to Millwall ticks a lot of, if not all, the boxes when it comes to the youngsters development as a footballer and it should help him regain some confidence after being cast out of the West Brom senior side. Can he forge a career at the Baggies? It does not look likely while he is not playing but getting more action and experience under his belt should do him the world of good.
