Anwar El Ghazi was at the centre of pretty much everything Aston Villa did in their 2-2 draw over rivals West Brom at The Hawthorns on Friday night.

He wanted to claim their opening goal after his shot cannoned off Ahmed Hegazy but it was eventually given as an own goal.

West Brom equalised through the prolific Dwight Gayle, but the El Ghazi show picked up again in the second-half when he scored a goal that no one could dispute.

He picked the ball up and thumped it past Sam Johnstone in the West Brom goal, the ball curling wickedly away from the keeper and into the roof of the net.

No one was taking that goal off him and it should have been enough to win the derby.

However, a controversial late equaliser, scored by Jay Rodriguez with his arm, meant that the spoils were shared.

And if Villa fans want anyone to blame, they should look to Tammy Abraham before the referee.

He was guilty of missing some simple chances, none more so than the one that was crossed across the six-yard area with the score at 2-1.

With the goal gaping he got his legs tangled up and missed the ball completely, falling over and eliciting groans from the away fans.

They had nothing but praise for El Ghazi though – here are the best reactions from the Villa fans:
