Tottenham have been hit with even more injuries for the Premier League game against Leicester on Saturday evening.

Ahead of the press conference on Friday lunchtime, the club confirmed that both Juan Foyth and Kieran Trippier were being assessed by medical staff but would be unavailable for Saturday’s game.

They join Mousa Dembele, Erik Lamela, Davinson Sanchez and Victor Wanyama on the sidelines.

OPINION

It’s been a never-ending procession of injuries for Tottenham this season. This is a real blow though. The absence of Kieran Trippier and Juan Foyth will leave a big hole in the Tottenham defence and leave Pochettino really stretched in a period where fixture congestion was a real issue anyway. Jan Vertonghen and Serge Aurier can come back in, but Tottenham can’t afford to lose anyone else, with a crunch Champions League tie coming up against Barcelona in midweek. Pochettino must be wondering when it’s going to stop. Trippier in particular is a big worry after Pochettino had already said that he had been carrying an injury since the World Cup and that it was a long-term problem. Tottenham have seemingly suffered more from the World Cup than any other single team, although bar Trippier, Pochettino did decide not to rest his big-name players after the tournament. Tottenham fans will be calling for Kyle Walker-Peters to see some action but for some reason Pochettino has only given the right-back one game in the EFL Cup this season.
