Tottenham are stepping up their pursuit to sign Bristol City left-back Lloyd Kelly, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claims that the 20-year-old has been impressing in the Championship and has also been admired by England manager Gareth Southgate, who has allowed the Under-21 international to train with the Three Lions’ senior squad this season.

It is understood that Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are also interested in the “highly-rated” defender, who has alerted scouts with a string of solid performances in England’s second-tier.

Good move for Tottenham?

It is always worth keeping an eye out for who the up-and-coming English players are and Kelly certainly has a bright future.

The 20-year-old has played regularly for Bristol City this season, appearing 19 times across all competitions.

He is better off staying at Ashton Gate until at least the end of this campaign, but Spurs would not be making a bad move if they made an effort to sign the England Under-21 international.

He can play at left-back or on the left-hand side of a back-three, which is certainly something that Mauricio Pochettino would be happy with.

Likely to happen?

Probably not in January but a deal could be on the cards for next summer.

Kelly will know that he is better off staying with the Robins right now and Spurs may only be able to sign him in January if they loan him back to the Championship club.
