OPINION
A section of Tottenham fans have every right to be baffled by this decision by Mauricio Pochettino because a player of Eric Dier’s strengths is surely invaluable in a game against Barcelona. Spurs will be approaching this game as one that they have to win to reach the Champions League knock-out stages, so it is a huge shock to see that Pochettino has decided against starting Dier, even though the England international is a mainstay for the side in the big-games. Although Spurs lost, he scored a big goal against Arsenal and against a side like Barca, Pochettino could do with someone tall, strong and a good tackler in the midfield. Moussa Sissoko will have to work very hard to shield Spurs’ back-line at the Nou Camp and hopefully he does a good job. If not, these Spurs fans will have been proven right to be worried about Pochettino’s starting line-up.
#THFC: Lloris (C), Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Winks, Sissoko, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Kane.

Happy in general, but we needed Dier in a game like this, especially to cover KWP https://t.co/pBwifBODJj

To go to the Nou Camp and not play Dier is very very questionable. Where is that tackler in the midfield?! https://t.co/7D4OOB6Wjf
