Paris Saint-Germain are looking into a potential swoop to sign Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claims that PSG have contacted the Toffees to make their interest in the 29-year-old known, but no bid has been made at this stage.

It is understood that Everton have no desire to cash in on the Senegal international, who has been key to Marco Silva’s first team plans this season by starting 15 out of 17 Premier League games.

Good move for Everton?

Under no circumstances should Silva consider letting Gueye leave – unless PSG offer up an irresistible sum of money.

The £45,000-a-week (Spotrac) player has been superb for the Toffees since he joined from Aston Villa in 2016, and Silva would struggle to replace him unless he has a good sum of money to spend.

It’s hard to replace players adequately in January, so the best idea is for the Toffees to just ignore PSG.

Likely to happen?

Everton seem pretty adamant that they are not interested in selling Gueye, so judging by that then there is not much chance that PSG will be able to pry him away from Merseyside.

That could change if Gueye has his head turned by the interest, but the midfielder doesn’t seem to be the type to try and force a transfer.

It was been widely reported that PSG are on the wrong side of Financial Fair Play regulations, so they might not be able to spend too much money on trying to sign Gueye.
