OPINION

Ryan Kent made his return for Rangers today after four league games out, and after being sidelined for eight of the last nine Premiership games.

Rangers fans were delighted to see the Liverpool loanee on the team sheet and the 22-year-old went on to have a huge impact on the game, with Rangers winning their first Old Firm clash in 90 minutes since being demoted.

Kent thrived on the big occasion and was a constant menace down the left-hand side and his skills paid off for the opening Rangers goal.

He set up Ryan Jack after beating Mikael Lustig and the 26-year-old finished through the legs of Scott Brown, with the ball deflecting past Craig Gordon.

Kent was the best player on the pitch for Rangers but it was a magnificent performance all-round from Steven Gerrard’s men. It’s fair to say it was as one-sided as some of the defeats Celtic have inflicted on Rangers and it blows the title race wide open again.

The one criticism is that Rangers should have scored more – and Kent could have easily had one himself.
