COMMENTARY
Dear oh dear. On a day when Rangers fans were hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table they slip up with an abject performance against Aberdeen. Lassana Coulibaly was the man who bore much of the brunt from the Ibrox faithful and understandably so with such a disappointing display in front of his own supporters. There was a distinct lack of urgency and desire from the 22-year-old and for someone who has been a regular among the starting XI under Steven Gerrard, the manager would have been expecting a significantly different sort of performance. It is days like these which will end up costing the Gers in their hunt for the title race and when players are as off the boil as Coulibaly was on Wednesday such results are going to be a frequent occurrence for the Light Blues. Gerrard needs to figure out if Coulibaly really is worthy of staying at the club past January or whether a fresh face would do a better job. One thing is for certain – Scott Arfield was sorely missed and you can expect that once his suspension is over Gerrard will be swinging the axe.
This is FutbolĀ has gathered a selection of the supporters’ tweets:
I praise Gerrard alot and after 1 defeat at Ibrox that won't change but tinkering the team so certain players gets minutes is a nonsense. Coulibally, Ejaria and Flanagan shouldn't be starting at the moment.

Ideally let him have the full season but dorrans and rossiter are fighting losing fitness battles, coulibaly is completely off the boil as well as ejaria and that leaves Jack and arfield who are not bad but can't play every game. Halliday could play there. Struggling for bodies

Agree mate, playing Coulibaly in that role was baffling, he cant pass or create. Badly missed Arfield

Coulibaly is scared of getting injured again, it's got to be the only explanation. Ejaria though… Don't get me started supposed to be a number 10 yet has 2 goals in 27 games?

And yet still looks more interested than Coulibaly who clearly does not want to be here.

Coulibaly is awful, so is tavernier. Only one who put in a shift was McGregor, we all see just how good Middleton is now, awful

What does Gerrard see in Coulibaly? He has been dreadful for months but no matter how poor the performance he almost always gets back in the team. Midfield is a major weakness in this team. Need more creativity from the wide positions as well, Grezda has not been value so far.
