James McFadden has said that Rangers star man Alfredo Morelos is the best striker in Scotland.

Morelos has scored 17 in 28 games this season and has now scored in seven consecutive games in the Scottish Premiership.

Talking on BBC Sportscene, as quoted by the Scottish Sun, McFadden was asked whether he was the best in Scotland at the moment.

“I think on form you would have to say yes. He is a goal scorer. He misses a lot of chances, but he’s always there to take them.

“When he misses them his head doesn’t go down, he continues to get in the areas. The ball always seems to fall to him, it’s a good thing as a striker.

“We know he has his disciplinary problems, but you’ve got to be on the edge. I think at times sometimes as a striker it’s better to be lucky than good because he seems to find himself in those areas and he continues to keep going there.

“He will get many more goals I am sure.”

OPINION

Rangers fans will no doubt agree with this wholeheartedly while Celtic fans will point to Odsonne Edouard and claim that Morelos wouldn’t even get into their side. We’re going to take the emotion out of it and look at stats. Morelos has scored 17 in 28 while Edouard has scored 12 in 25. They’re both in the Europa League playing against a similar level of opposition. So, based on scientific stats (albeit with a small sample size), we’re happy to go with Morelos at the moment. Each transfer window he’s linked with a big-money move somewhere and we wonder whether the rumours will start up again in January. He was good before but he’s moved up another level under Gerrard, so we wonder how much he’s worth now? Rangers won’t sell unless there’s a ridiculous offer for him – Gerrard has said every player has his price – but it would be a huge blow if Morelos went. Money is one thing but getting another player of his quality to replace him? That would be tough.
