Former Celtic striker John Hartson has praised current Hoops frontman Odsonne Edouard for his performance against Aberdeen on Wednesday.

The Frenchman came off the bench to score a vital late goal in Celtic’s 4-3 victory over the Dons, helping the visitors secure all three points in a topsy-turvy affair at Pittodrie.

Hartson was seriously impressed with the youngster’s efforts and handed him a near-perfect score out of 10.

“9.5 for the penalty.. still wasn’t enough..,” he said on his personal Twitter account.

“Great 3 points for Celtic. Edouard beast mode when he came on. Happy Boxing Day,” he finished.

OPINION

You can see exactly where Hartson is coming from here because Edouard was tremendous when he came on against Aberdeen. He looked a threat from the moment he stepped on the pitch and got his just rewards with a powerful strike to help the Hoops to victory. His intervention ended up being vital in amongst Scott Sinclair’s hat trick, with the Bhoys only winning by a goal in what was a hugely entertaining affair. It was good to see Edouard start from the bench rather than being thrown straight back in after injury. He’s played a lot of football this term and it was good to see Brendan Rodgers keep him fresh for the Old Firm derby on Saturday. The decision paid dividends both through Sinclair’s performance and through the impact Edouard had off the bench, and Hartson is right to label him ‘beast mode’. The striker excelled after his introduction and his manager will be very pleased with him.
