COMMENTARY
Celtic fans might have been celebrating their win over Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup on Sunday afternoon, but it appears as though they were all delighted to see Gary Mackay-Steven alright after their rivals’ official update on their official Twitter account. The 28-year-old was involved in a sickening clash with Dedryck Boyata which left him floored for no less than six minutes and the fans of both clubs worried as he left the pitch on a stretcher. Thankfully for everyone the winger was confirmed to have been alright and the Hoops faithful were all left saying the same thing on Twitter, issuing words of relief as well as best wishes for the Aberdeen man. Yes, Sunday might have been about silverware and Celtic triumphed but Mackay-Steven’s status was also high on the priority list for supporters and it goes to show how support overcomes rivalry when the health of a player is at stake. A great day all round for Celtic fans, who can properly celebrate their win now that his situation is cleared up.
