Rangers travel to Austria for their final Europa League group stage tie against Rapid Vienna on Thursday night, and Steven Gerrard is expected to make five changes to his starting XI.

The Light Blues know that they must win against Rapid to secure progress to the knockout stages, with any other result not being good enough for Gerrard and his team.

Rangers will be low on confidence heading into this one after a defeat by Aberdeen and a draw against Dundee saw them let top spot slip in the Premiership last week.

Gerrard is expected to make several changes from the side that played against Dundee, with several first-team regulars coming back into the XI.

In goal, Allan McGregor is expected to start as normal.

In defence, both James Tavernier and Connor Goldson are expected to keep their places, while 6’4″ colossus Nikola Katic [Transfermarkt] and Borna Barisic are expected to be reinstated for Joe Worrall and Andy Halliday respectively.

Two more changes are expected in midfield, with Jordan Rossiter and Eros Grezda axed in favour of Scott Arfield and Ovie Ejaria, while Ryan Jack retains his place.

In attack, Ryan Kent and Daniel Candeias are expected to retain their places on the flanks, while Alfredo Morelos is expected to replace Kyle Lafferty with his red-card ban only active in domestic competitions.
