Hal Robson-Kanu has been classed as “50/50” for West Brom’s clash against Aston Villa at The Hawthorns on Friday night, according to Express & Star reporter Matt Wilson.

The reliable journalist has claimed on his personal Twitter account that Robson-Kanu, 29, could miss the West Midlands derby with a knee injury he picked up in the 1-1 draw with Brentford on Monday.

The Wales international has been in good form for the Baggies in recent weeks, starting all four of the last four fixtures in which Albion have won three and drawn one.

OPINION

Robson-Kanu is quite the scapegoat among West Brom fans but those supporters have to admit that the Welsh forward has been playing well recently and deserves his place in the starting line-up. He may not be the best finisher but the ex-Reading star is someone who troubles defenders, is decent in the air and can create space for other, more technical, players. Darren Moore has named an unchanged starting line-up in each of the last four games but he might have to against Villa on Friday. Dwight Gayle could replace Robson-Kanu but if the Wales international is fit then Moore should consider dropping Jay Rodriguez instead. Rodriguez missed the chance to score several goals in the draw with Brentford on Monday and after such a shocker, it would be a good idea to drop him to the bench and start Robson-Kanu up top with Gayle, if they are both fit enough to start.
