Wolverhampton Wanderers are closing in on the capture of Portimonense and Japanese international winger Shoya Nakajima for a £17.8million (€20million) fee, according to A Bola.

The Portuguese publication claim on their website that the Molineux outfit are in final negotiations for the signing of the 24-year-old forward, who can play anywhere in attack, after his impressive form for the Liga NOS side, scoring five goals and chipping in with four assists in 10 appearances.

It is stated that Premier League rivals Southampton and Leicester City have also been chasing the six cap star’s capture but that Wolves are set to trump their top flight counterparts in bringing him to England.

Good move for Wolves?

Nuno Espirito Santo does already have a wealth of attacking talents at his disposal but there have been some who have failed to live up to expectation following the club’s promotion to the top flight.

The likes of Helder Costa and Diogo Jota have not been able to replicate the fine displays fans became accustomed to in the Championship and so Nakajima’s arrival will help bolster the side heading into te second half of the season.

Moving from a Portuguese top flight side to England’s elite will be no easy transition and questions will have to be asked over whether he has what it takes to be a success in the Premier League, but it seems as though Nuno is willing to take that gamble.

Likely to happen?

It certainly sounds like it.

The player is likely open to moving to England and his club are probably going to welcome the hefty transfer fee with open arms and so everything is in Wolves’ favour.

A last ditch efforts from their rivals might complicate things but even then, Wolves are so far down the line in negotiations that it would take something special for this one not to go ahead.
