Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier believes that what Wolverhampton Wanderers have done this season is “remarkable.”

Wolves won promotion to the Premier League last season after lifting the Championship title, and Le Tissier has been impressed by how well they have coped since coming up and being able to “cement” a standing in the top-half of the table.

He adds that Wolves have been outstanding in their own way this season, having secured points against the two Manchester clubs this season alongside a win against Chelsea.

“I think with what they have done having come up from the Championship, and then gone on to cement a place in the top half, Wolves have to be in with a shout for team of 2018,” he told Sky Sports.

“Obviously Man City have been unbelievable, but in their own way, what Wolves have done is remarkable.”

OPINION

Le Tissier is right – Wolves have been oustanding this season, and it is hard not to admire how they have coped with being promoted to the top-flight. Everybody was gushing over them towards the start of the season after they earned points against two of the league’s bigger clubs, and even though they have somewhat staggered at this stage, they have shown a lot of grit to get where they are now. To be able to secure a place in the top-half of the table upon being promoted is an achievement in itself, and it is a true testament to how hard the team work. Morgan Gibbs-White has been the standout player of late despite being so young – and the more they are able to nuture him, the more successful they will be this term. Yes, admittedly Wolves is a surprise choice for Le Tissier’s team of 2018 – but like he pointed out, Wolves have been “remarkable” in their own way.
