West Ham’s board have given the green light to the wishes of Manuel Pellegrini by offering a short term deal worth nearly £2million to French attacker Samir Nasri, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim on their live transfer blog on their website (21:08) that the 31-year-old has done enough to earn himself a six month contract worth £80,000-a-week in the new year, meaning he will earn around £1.9million between the start of his deal and the end of the season.

It is stated that the Hammers have an option in place to keep the former Manchester City man beyond the end of the season should he impress.

Good move for West Ham?

It seems as though the injury problems which have hit the Hammers seem to have forced the arm of the West Ham board in giving Pellegrini what he wants.

The ex-Manchester City man, who appears likely to be reuniting with his former boss in 2019, has not played competitively for some time due to a ban but having trained with the Irons has obviously shown enough to warrant a contract being handed his way.

He will battle with the likes of Felipe Anderson and Jack Wilshere for a place in the starting XI and he might well have to settle for a bench role at first, but if he can hit his best once again then he will be starring for the Hammers in no time.

Likely to happen?

It seems as though all that is missing is a signature from the player himself and that is one under the belt for Pellegrini heading into January.

This was evidently something the Hammers wanted to leave until the last minute and they were right to give him time to prove himself in training.
