West Ham United midfielder Robert Snodgrass has praised his team mate Felipe Anderson for his seamless transition to Premier League football.

The club record signing from Lazio has enjoyed a phenomenal start to the season, and cemented himself as the club’s top goalscorer with his strike in the 3-2 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Snodgrass has been seriously impressed: “He is always in the gym, trying to do better, trying to learn better English,” he told the Evening Standard. “He is a good professional, it is a simple as that.

“He had a few games that he found a little bit difficult but he battled through it. He is working so hard to do what he is doing week in, week out. I am happy for him and long may it continue. He is a good lad. It is great to see him scoring goals because he is a terrific talent.”

OPINION

It’s no surprise to see Snodgrass talk like this about Anderson because the Brazilian has been imperious for the Hammers this campaign. He struggled somewhat in the first month or so after his move from Lazio, but that’s natural and since then he has been majestic for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. He has become a bit of a talisman for the club and is their most important player at present with Marko Arnautovic out injured. He has that little bit of quality that can make the difference in close games, as his eventual winner did against Palace on Saturday. He is certainly looking like a shrewd buy, that’s for sure. The main takeaway from Snodgrass’s comments, though, are that Anderson has worked incredibly hard to get to the level he is at now. All the credit must go to him because he had a tricky start at West Ham, but he has emerged as one of the best playmakers in the Premier League over the last couple of months.
