Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara has ben drooling over the performance of West Ham striker Javier Hernandez despite the Hammers suffering a 2-0 defeat to Watford on Saturday.

The Irons saw their winning run come to an abrupt end in front of their own fans courtesy of the Hornets with goalkeeper Ben Foster keeping the home side at bay for the full 90 minutes.

However, it did not stop Kamara from singing the praises of the Mexican hitman, insisting that his movement and positioning was spot on and that he was unlucky to come up against a shot stopper in such fine form.

He told Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday (23/12, 12:02): “On another given day it could have been two each or they could have won it, you never know.

“Well, Chicarito, what a striker he is. He reads this brilliantly from Antonio, gets in that shot, the type of striker who finds the corners all the time but he found the goalkeeper who was in top form.”

Opinion

Considering that the Hammers failed to find the back of the net it seems strange that Kamara is praising Hernandez but it was that good a performance from Foster. The Watford stopper threw everything he had at the Hammers’ attempts and it was one of those games where the Hornets could not have had too many complaints had they left with just a point, or even possibly nothing from the London Stadium. The fact the Irons are being congratulated for their performance shows there is little to worry about despite the disappointing result. Hernandez cannot let his confidence wain either, for this was not a bad day at the office despite his lack of goals. You know that Manuel Pellegrini will have been satisfied from what he saw from his players and knows that such a display will secure many more points in the future.
