Super Lig outfit Galatasaray are looking at a swoop for West Ham United striker Andy Carroll in the January transfer window, according to Sabah.

The Turkish outlet reports on their website that the club are looking for cheap forward options in the next window, and they are hoping to land the Hammers colossus – who was signed in 2013 – on a free transfer in the New Year now that he has overcome an injury problem.

The report adds that Galatasaray are relying on the Irons to accept this offer, especially as Carroll’s contract expires at the end of the season.

Good move for West Ham?

Come the New Year, this would be a great move for the Hammers. Marko Arnautovic may be injured at the moment – a scenario which may mean that Carroll will play more than he is expecting – but getting rid of the attacker would make complete sense by January.

He has fallen down the pecking order since his injury and he is unlikely to recapture his previous form for the club, which means that even the likes of Javier Hernandez and Lucas Perez are in front of him in the queue. This news must be music to the fans’ ears – and they will no doubt have their fingers crossed that the interest materialises.

Likely to happen?

It remains to be seen just how accurate this report actually is, but if it is true, then a move may be on the cards for Carroll. There is not much more he can offer West Ham anymore, and it is better for both parties that he finds a fresh start after his injury.

Whether Galatasaray will be able to get him on a free transfer is questionable, as the Irons may want to cash in on him in January. However, it is safe to say that he is not in Manuel Pellegrini’s plans, so a January move may be on the cards.
