Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a swoop for Feyenoord midfield star Tonny Vilhena, according to Calciomercato

The Italian outlet claim that Spurs are ready to provide competition for Roma to sign the 23-year-old talent, who already has 15 caps for the Netherlands.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport on Friday, Roma are lining up a deal to Vilhena which involves the return of Rick Karsdorp to Feyenoord.

Good move for Tottenham Hotspur?

Yes.

Vilhena is a rising star in the Netherlands, with the 23-year-old impressing in the centre of Feyenoord’s midfield for a couple of seasons with his energetic box-to-box play.

The 15-time Netherlands international would offer Spurs a quality replacement for Mousa Dembele, who is likely to leave the club at some point in the near future.

It is not stated in this report whether Spurs would pursue a January or summer deal for Vilhena, but either would work for Mauricio Pochettino.

Likely to happen?

It is pretty much impossible to say.

All the report says is that Spurs are showing an interest in Vilhena, and nothing more.

How advanced their interest is remains unknown, and we will just have to wait and see if there is any activity come January.
