Ian Wright has insisted Arsenal will be worried sick about “unstoppable” Harry Kane ahead of Sunday’s north London derby.

Kane is set to spearhead the Tottenham attack at Emirates Stadium as he looks to continue his outstanding record in the fixture, which has yielded him seven goals.

Wright has seen signs that Kane is getting back to his best following a mixed start to the season, and believes he will be especially dangerous as a result of the improved form of the attacking midfielders behind him.

“You need to stop the supply,” the Arsenal legend told the Times in a discussion with Jermaine Jenas about Kane. “He will not be taken off unless he is injured. So if Dele [Alli], [Christian] Eriksen and Son [Heung-Min] are playing well and getting balls in and around the box you literally can’t stop him — unless he misses chances, and he doesn’t miss too many.”

OPINION

It is remarkable to think that Kane is widely regarded to have had a slow start to the campaign, but his 18 matches have still yielded 11 goals, at a rate better than one in every two games. His wondrous scoring tally in a Spurs shirt, coupled with a brilliant record in north London derbies, make him the obvious danger man to Arsenal. But can they stop the Lilywhite juggernaut, whose 151 Spurs goals at the age of 25 strongly suggest he can break plenty of records in the coming years? It will be extremely difficult, especially if Tottenham play as they have done in their last two matches against Inter Milan and Chelsea, when Alli, Son and Eriksen, none of whom have been consistently anywhere near their best this season, lived up to their billing. Kane is so versatile and accomplished in so many areas – dropping off and picking passes, long-range shooting, left foot, right foot, headed finishes – he is a nightmare to defend against. Arsenal will have done very well if they snuff him out on Sunday.
