Tottenham Hotspur are in the hunt for Hoffenheim midfield enforcer Florian Grillitsch, according to Bild.

The German newspaper report that English clubs have become aware of the 23-year-old Austria international in recent months, with north London rivals Arsenal also interested.

Bild claim that Grillitsch’s agent, Thomas Bohm, has already travelled to England last week in order to hold preliminary discussions about a transfer, but it is not specified which clubs he met.

It is said that Grillitsch has a release clause in his contract which could mean Hoffenheim are resigned to losing him.

Good move for Tottenham Hotspur?

It depends on the price being demanded by Hoffenheim.

Grillitsch is a talented young midfielder who has become a regular for Julian Nagelsmann’s team in the past couple of seasons, while also establishing himself in the Austria side.

Tottenham are well known to be on the hunt for a central midfield to replace Mousa Dembele, who is likely to leave the club when his contract ends in the summer.

Therefore, this could be a good move, but only at a certain price, with there being other options out there for Spurs if Hoffenheim demand too much.

Likely to happen?

If Grillitsch were to move to Tottenham, it would be in the summer.

And, with several other clubs no doubt interested, a move would be tough for Spurs, who would have heavy competition.

Grillitsch also looks unlikely to be a priority target for Spurs, who will be targeting a world-class operator to replace Dembele.
