The Tottenham faithful were universally blown away by Danny Rose’s midweek masterclass against Barcelona. It’s fair to say there wasn’t the same warmth and generosity attributed to his performance in Saturday’s 1-0 win against Burnley at Wembley. Christian Eriksen came to Spurs’ rescue when he slammed his shot past Joe Hart in the 91st minute, as the north Londoners once again demonstrated their ability to keep going until the end and secure last-gasp triumphs. The victory pulled Tottenham to within three points of second-placed Liverpool, but it was a fairly ropey performance against resilient opponents in admittedly dreadful conditions. Rose was given his second consecutive start, but he looked a different player to the one who carried the fight in the Nou Camp. The left-back made a series of unforced errors, and one calamitous cross will secure a future place in a football bloopers compilation.
