OPINION
To many Tottenham fans, Eric Dier is a Godly figure whose commitment and teak-toughness provides ballast in the centre of the pitch. His shshing of Aaron Ramsey and memorable challenge on Sergio Ramos have added to his cult status. Others regard him as a mid-pitch mediocrity who lacks the class and composure to run the show at elite Premier League level. They believe he can never attain the heights of peak Mousa Dembele, Luka Modric or some of the finest central midfielders to play for the club in the last 30 years. Dier played the full 90 minutes of Wednesday’s 3-1 win against Southampton in front of a sparse attendance of just 33,012 as Spurs bounced back from their weekend north London derby defeat. It was far from vintage far from Mauricio Pochettino’s side but goals from Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Son Heung-Min lifted them back to third in the league table. Many fans were unimpressed by the performance of Dier, with comments including “he is terrible” and “useless”.

Winks is not good enough , as long as people like sissoko , dier and winks are starting in our midfield we won't win things , yes we can win the odd game like against ( an off-form ) chelsea but we won't win when it matters with them starting in our midfield
