Tottenham forward Son Heung-min has claimed that he is living his dream by playing for Spurs, and has suggested that the club’s impressive attacking feats have been a long time coming.

The 26-year-old is enjoying a fine campaign as Spurs mount a serious title challenge, and has expressed his happiness at playing for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Speaking 0n Sky Sports News (Friday December 28th, Sky Sports News), he said: “It was my dream to play in the Premier League so I’m living my dream – why wouldn’t I be smiling?

“I’m the happiest guy in the world and the luckiest guy in the world.”

The South Korean international currently sits third in the Premier League rankings for goal involvements this campaign, and puts his success down to a close relationship with his teammates.

He said: “We understand very very good because we play three and a half years to gather since I joined.

“I know the players, and we’re growing up as a team. For example, Harry did an unbelievable job already before I joined but I think he’s been getting better over the past few years, and I think Christian and Dele as well.

“We just enjoy playing together and we understand what we like and what we want.”

OPINION

Son’s progress over the past few months has been remarkable. Last season he was showing glimpses of the influence he could have for Tottenham, but this term he has added a lot more consistency, and week after week he is a contender for man of the match. The 26-year-old has become an irrepressible part of a Spurs frontline that is arguably the most lethal in the league at the moment. The way in which Kane, Eriksen, Alli, and Son, not to mention Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela when they feature, interchange and interplay is enough to heads spin, and the club have managed to make genuine progress despite not bringing in any new faces over the summer. A lot of that improvement has come as a result of Mauricio Pochettino showing faith in the players he has and allowing them to grow and develop together. In a modern game obsessed with instant results, it makes for a refreshing change, and there’s no saying just how far it could take the club.
