Graham Roberts was left gushing over the performances of Dele Alli, Harry Winks and Toby Alderweireld in Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday night.

Son Heung-Min curled in a superb left-footed shot from outside the area for the first goal, with Alli getting on the end of Son’s weighted cross to head in the visitors second of the evening.

Spurs legend Roberts hailed the club trio on his personal Twitter account, whilst also praising the entire team for their “fantastic performance” and getting a “clean sheet”.

He said: “Fantastic performance and a clean sheet with [Dele Alli] sensational tonight. Also thought [Toby Alderweireld] immense. And well played [Harry Winks] ran the midfield.”

OPINION

To be honest, the scoreline of 2-0 did not do Tottenham’s performance as much justice as it should have. They were magnificent and Leicester did not know where to look following the second effort on goal, and who can blame them? The Foxes were outclassed by Mauricio Pochettino’s team and there is no doubt that they would have learned a lesson or two from their Premier League rivals. Roberts is right to pick out the three players that he did for praise – they were excellent – but Son deserved more praise too. He was instrumental in this win with his goal and assist, and he is starting to become a pivotal figure in the starting XI. Tottenham are starting to look incredibly comfortable, and a top-four finish looks increasingly likely as the season progresses. Plaudits to the three players though – they were outstanding, especially Winks. For such a young age, he has so much ability, and that is something to be very excited about.
