Kyle Walker-Peters has every right to be seriously angry.

He was given his first league start of the season against Bournemouth and excelled in the 5-0 win, providing three assists in the demolition job.

His reward? He was dropped for the game against Wolves where his replacement Kieran Trippier made key mistakes in the second-half to gift Wolves a 3-1 win.

That looks like a huge clanger from Mauricio Pochettino to us.

Pochettino had already said that Trippier was suffering from fatigue and a long-term groin issue earlier this month.

Walker-Peters, reportedly only on £20k-a-week, is young, fit, hungry and has hardly played at all this season, making just two appearances in the Premier League.

Fans had been calling for him to play all season and when he finally got his chance, and grabbed it with both hands, he was rewarded by being dropped.

All of which makes the game against Cardiff on New Year’s Day a fascinating one. Pochettino has a big decision to make and will surely give Walker-Peters another chance from the start.

If he doesn’t Walker-Peters should be barging the door down to Pochettino’s office and demanding why.
