Michael Owen thinks that Tottenham’s heroics at Camp Nou will give them the confidence boost they need to comfortably beat struggling Burnley.

Spurs scored an 85th minute equaliser against Barcelona on Tuesday night to ensure their qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League, nd the former England international believes that the unlikely escape act will still have Mauricio Pochettino’s side flying high.

Speaking to BetVictor, he said: “Burnley picked up a valuable three points at home to Brighton last weekend, but they continue to struggle away from Turf Moor, having picked up just six points from their last ten away league games.

“Spurs’ confidence will be sky-high as a result of their 1-1 draw in Barcelona midweek, a result which ensured all four PL sides would be in Monday’s draw for the last 16 of the Champions League. A comfortable home win for me.”

OPINION

Burnley at home is a match you’d expect Spurs to comfortably win – and as result, it’s exactly the sort of game they would have been likely to draw 1-1 and drop a precious two points on. Something feels a little bit different about Spurs this year though. Fairly or not, they have garnered this reputation for being a team who bottles things at the vital moments, but Tuesday night proved that they might just be shaking that image. On the biggest of stages, with Europe watching, they pulled out an improbable and stunning performance to keep the faintest of Champions League hopes alive. Spurs were criticised for not bringing in any players over the summer, but may have inadvertently strengthened their squad by creating an unusually close knit group. At title challenge might still be a step too far, but Spurs have developed a kind of understated swagger, and you would expect them to steamroll Burnley when Sean Dyche’s men make the trip to Wembley.
