Glenn Hoddle took to Twitter to deliver his reaction to Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with Barcelona on Tuesday night.

Spurs secured their place in the last-16 in the Champions League thanks to a second half equaliser from substitute Lucas Moura at the Camp Nou, and Hoddle was clearly over the moon with the performance.

He reckons that his former club “deserved to win” this match after the way that they played, and joked that the result “wasn’t good for my recovery”.

Hoddle said on his personal Twitter account: “That just wasn’t good for my recovery! But a great performance well done boys, deserved to win COYS.”

OPINION

Tottenham put out a great performance in this well-fought draw, so it comes as no surprise that Hoddle has delivered such a positive verdict on their display. The players really stepped up a gear on Tuesday, with most of them arguably at the best they have ever been this season. For such an important match, that does not come as surprise, but there were a few faces who did surprise many, including Danny Rose. Hoddle remarked on how Spurs “deserved to win” this clash, and he could not be more right based on the effort that they put in. To qualify for the next round of the Champions League is an achievement in itself, but the fact they were able to hold Barcelona was also remarkable. How far Spurs will progress remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure – Hoddle was thoroughly impressed with them.
