Borussia Dortmund sensation Christian Pulisic wants to snub huge interest from Chelsea and join Liverpool instead, according to the Evening Standard.

The newspaper claim the London giants have tabled an official bid for the Bundesliga 20-year-old in an attempt to convince Dortmund to sell him in the January window.

The Standard report that Pulisic “held a meeting with Dortmund a few days before Chelsea got in contact on Friday” and his preference is join Liverpool and be reunited with former Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp.

Good move for Liverpool?

Definitely. Pulisic, who missed Dortmund’s weekend win over Freiburg with a muscle injury, has an excellent record already given his age – 15 goals and 24 assists from 109 first-team appearances while barely out of his teens. But it is his potential to develop into a superstar that is so exciting and has had so many elite clubs beating a path to his door in recent years. A right-winger possessing blistering pace, fabulous technique and great skill, all the signs point towards Pulisic being one of the world’s best players in the coming years. It would be a huge statement of intent from Liverpool if they could sign him.

Likely to happen?

In January? It’s unlikely, but Liverpool look like having a great chance of signing Pulisic next summer, when he will have just 12 months left on his Dortmund contract. It is hugely encouraging for the Merseyside giants that the US international appears to prefer them to Chelsea. Moreover, he has rejected the chance to discuss an extension to his Dortmund contract. This is a transfer that is gathering pace.
