French giants Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to offer Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey an 18 month contract in January, according to L’Equipe.

The French newspaper claims that Thomas Tuchel’s side are looking to bring in a central midfielder, and are willing to make the Welsh international an offer.

The former Cardiff City man is out of contract at the Emirates Stadium in the summer, meaning he could move to the French capital for nothing.

It’s likely that Ramsey would be a like-for-like replacement for Frenchman Adrien Rabiot, who is in a similar contract situation to the Welshman in Paris.

Good move for Arsenal?

This isn’t really about being a good move for Arsenal because it’s long been established that a player of Ramsey’s quality leaving for free is never a good thing. However, from the player’s perspective a move to a massive club like PSG would be the ideal next step in his career. Tuchel’s team need help in the middle of the park and Ramsey is more than good enough to represent the French giants. It would be nice to see another British player go abroad. We’ve seen Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson excel in the Bundesliga this season, while Joe Cole and Joey Barton have had positive experiences in France in the past. Ramsey would likely surpass their achievements in Ligue 1, and this would be a fascinating switch for him. He’ll likely have other offers, including from Premier League outfits, but this would be a really lucrative move for him.

Likely to happen?

Well it’s all down to the player isn’t it? If he gets a contract offer then it’s simply up to him whether he wants to sign it or not. As mentioned he will surely get other offers as well so it will just be down to Ramsey weighing up his options and making a decision.
