One area which West Brom fans might think needs no strengthening in the winter transfer window would be their forward line – but it seems as though Darren Moore might well think otherwise.

With the most potent attacking line up in the Championship, the Hawthorns faithful have been treated to a glut of goals from their side and it looks as though their fearsome forwards are going to fire them to a top six finish at the very least this season.

However, the Daily Mail claim that the Baggies are keen on Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley – the 26-year-old in exceptional form with seven goals and seven assists this season – but that Crystal Palace and Watford are also in the hunt as the Premier League interest heats up.

Wingers have tended to be underused by Moore this season, the likes of Matt Phillips shoehorned into a full back role while Dwight Gayle and Harvey Barnes have been pushed out into wide forward positions rather than a natural winger but Lolley would offer a natural wing option.

However, can the Baggies compete if the Premier League sides come calling for the Nottingham Forest man?

Of course they can, and more importantly, they are surely capable of pulling off a coup and beating their top flight counterparts to his capture.

Lolley is a regular for Forest and would no doubt want to keep playing football on a regular basis – something which is not only not a guarantee at either Crystal Palace or Watford, but highly unlikely.

Andros Townsend and Max Meyer are going nowhere from the Eagles’ starting XI while the same applies to Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pererya at the Hornets – leaving Lolley firmly as a fringe figure.

At West Brom he not only has the chance to be a star player week in, week out but is in with a real shot of securing Premier League football next season – when he will be an established player in the Baggies’ setup.

West Brom must not allow the Premier League interest to scare them off – he is a realistic and exciting target.
